All appointments are with experienced skaters and skate technicians. We offer brand-impartial advice, specifically created for the skater and their needs. Our aim is simple: Listen, consider, and advise for the best result.
For skate appointments please ensure that you bring your normal skating socks, and a pair of thin cotton socks if these aren't what you would normally skate in.
Basic Appointment:
The basic appointment can be used for skate fitting checks, discussion about different issues the skater is experiencing. Appointments can be made with any of our experienced skaters and technicians for complete confidence.
Check existing skate fit:
Bring your skates to the appointment, along with thin cotton or skating socks. We will check the fit of the skate for you and provide some general advice for any issues you may be experiencing
Foot Pain/Issues:
Bring your skates to the appointment, along with thin cotton or skating socks. We prefer to conduct this sort of appointment at Cambridge Ice Arena straight after you've been skating, but this may not be necessary, depending on the description of the issue. We will talk to you about the issues you're experiencing and what might be done to remedy it. Please note: Sometimes the diagnosis will recommend boot reshaping - this is an additional paid service.
Skating Issues:
Lost your spin? Having issues with your edges? We can conduct an analysis both off and on the ice, during public sessions, with experienced skaters to diagnose typical issues, from blade alignment to profile degradation. Please note: Sometimes the diagnosis will recommend blade alignment or sharpening. These are additional paid services.
New Skate measure and advise:
With or without your existing boots. We'll measure your feet and advise on what boots are likely to work for you, and what additional work may be required. Please note - due to variances in skate manufacturing processes, a skate that should fit according to the manufacturers recommendations may be too small/large. This is outside of the control of TheRink, and therefore the recommendation will still require you to try the skate on to confirm proper fit, prior to further work that may void returns.
Please note: Appointment fees must be paid at least 1 hour before the appointment time. Unpaid appointments will be cancelled. Appointments may be amended to the next day or beyond up to one hour before the appointment time. Failure to show, or cancellation within one hour of the start will result in a new appointment fee being payable.
